TCU dominated Southern in their season opener with a score of 108-75. It was a very balanced effort for the Frogs having eight players with eight points or more on 61.4% from the field and 43.5% from three.

Micah Peavy led all scorers with 21 points on 10 of 13 shooting while JaKobe Coles added 17 and Avery Anderson III had 15 to lead the way for the Frogs.

TCU showed a lot of positives on the offensive end today, pouring in 108 points on 28 assists. They got out in transition a lot getting lots of people involved and shooting the ball well. All four guards played well, showing the depth of that position with Peavy, Jameer Nelson Jr., Anderson III, and Trey Tennyson.

The negatives for the Frogs are mostly centered on the defensive end, giving up 75 points to a subpar Southern team, specifically guarding the three-ball. Additional weak points include 13 turnovers and the inability to rely on a stable center. The issue of turnovers got better as the game progressed, but it has been a problem for TCU the past couple of years and would be bad if that were to continue. Additionally, Ernest Udeh Jr., Xavier Cork, and Essam Mostafa all combined for ten points and nine rebounds in 38 combined minutes. Cork probably played the best of the bunch, but finding a stable center presence inside would be beneficial as the Frogs go through their season.

Regardless, this was a very successful game for TCU and showed how their ceiling can be extremely high. Preseason All Big-12 player Emanuel Miller only had nine points, and they still won comfortability, which is a good sign they are a much deeper team.

It will be interesting to see how Coach Dixon alters the lineup heading into their next few games. However, TCU fans have a lot to get excited about after this win.

The next game is Thursday, November 9 against Omaha in Schollmaier Arena. The game is at 7 p.m. CT and can be seen on the Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
