TCU advanced to 3-0 on the season after defeating UT Rio Grande Valley 88-55 Tuesday. They shot 51.5% from the field, 47.1% from three, and 90.9% from the free throw line while holding UTRGV to 41.1%, 18.2%, and 53.8% respectively. The Frogs out-rebounded the Vaqueros 44 to 26 in the process, remaining a strong suit for the team. Five TCU players reached double figures.

Notable TCU Players:

JaKobe Coles - 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals

Jameer Nelson Jr. - 15 points, 4 assists, 2 steals

Avery Anderson III - 15 points, 2 assists, 2 steals

Emanuel Miller - 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals

Micah Peavy - 10 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds

Another Slow Start

TCU was lucky to be up 33-22 at half after having 12 first-half turnovers and just shooting 43.3% at the break. Starting slow is starting to become a trend for the Horned Frogs, which they will need to break once they face tougher opponents. Luckily, they cut their turnovers in half the second half and coasted to a 33-point win, but starting off faster would be nice every once in a while.

Finding the Three Ball

The Horned Frogs shot 8-17 from three-point range Tuesday, as this part of the offense is starting to become a staple in their game plan. Last season, TCU averaged just 5.6 threes per game ranking 338th in the country, so if eight threes can be consistent for the Frogs, it can be a real weapon. Miller even set a career-high for 3-pointers in a game with three made.

Sharing the Rock

TCU accounted for 24 assists on 35 made field goals led by Trey Tennyson, Peavy, and Nelson Jr., who accounted for 14 of this total. To put this in perspective, the Frogs averaged 16.1 assists per game last season. With five Frogs getting into double figures, it is safe to say there is not just one go-to guy for TCU season, as everyone is getting involved. This type of ball movement goes well with their transition-style offense and allows them to push the pace with efficiency. Ball movement being a strength for this team could go a long way once they start to play tougher competition.

Up Next: TCU will play its next game at home against Mississippi Valley State on Friday, November 17. It will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Be there.
