The TCU Horned Frogs (20-10, 9-8) will host UCF (15-14, 6-11) on Saturday, March 9. TCU is coming off of a needed win against West Virginia. The Frogs will look to get another win to find some sort of rhythm, as they have looked completely off and inconsistent in prior games. A win on Saturday will give the Frogs ten conference wins, which will be a first since joining the Big 12.

TCU has had its ups and downs this season, but it has shown it has what it takes to beat some of the best teams in the nation. They will need to finish this season strong. A win against UCF would be a great way to close out the regular season. UCF is coming off of back-to-back losses as they struggled in their first Big 12 season. The game is set for 4 P.M. CT and can be seen on ESPN+.

UCF Guard- #3 Darius Johnson

UCF has struggled this season and has not been able to find a rhythm in Big 12 play. However, they have had some good moments and always seem to put up a fight. They are led by their guards, which has been a bright spot for this team. This will be the first matchup for these two teams this season. Both are looking to play hard and get this win. TCU needs this win as they are looking for a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

I chose to highlight Darius Johnson in this article because he has been tremendous this season, especially in scoring. It was very tough to choose between  Johnson and Jaylin Sellers. Even though Sellers is averaging more points, I decided to cover Johnson because he is a better all-around player.

Standing at 6'1" 200 lbs. The junior guard has had an excellent season. Johnson ranks second on the team in average scoring and first in assists and steals. He is the team's primary facilitator. The experienced guard has a high basketball I.Q. and great vision. Johnson is also one of the best perimeter defenders in the Big 12. He leads the Knights in three-point shooting and does most of his damage from the left side of the court. However, The guard has struggled with turnovers. He leads the Big 12 in turnovers. This should be good news for TCU as they are one of the best teams in fast break points. This should be something the Horned Frogs are aware of so that they can capitalize on his potential mistakes.

Other Players To Watch For:

  • Junior Guard- #24 Jaylin Sellers
    • Leads team in average points per game (16.0)
  • Senior Forward- #11 Ibrahima Diallo
    • Leads team in average Rebounds (5.6) and average Blocks (1.8)
