What The Frogs did well and what they could have done better:

I think the Frogs did so much good this season, and I am super proud of all that they have accomplished.

Some good things that I saw were:

  • A much better defense that could slow down and tire out almost any team.
  • A very efficient team in fast breaks and scoring on those opportunities.
  • A very close-knit team that shared the ball very well.
  • Player Improvement.
  • Mike Miles and Damion Baugh worked together to create great plays.
  • The Frogs fought hard through adversity between injuries and the departures of players.

Some things that could have been been better in my opinion:

  • Shooting free-throws
  • Getting in to foul trouble early
  • Streaky shooting, and shot decisions
  • Three-point shooting
  • Mistakes/turnovers

Now that I have given my opinion hearing other Frog fans' views is essential. So, I asked a few fans what their thought on the season was.

First up is Cole Rehling. Cole is a TCU graduate and a huge TCU fan. This is what he had to say about this season, "I thought they did really well with fast breaks/transitions and overall energy. The whole team hustled and was in it. We also played super unselfishly, and everyone contributed to our big wins. We definitely could work on our 3s and free throws as well as our, at times, poor shot selection. I also felt that down the stretch, it felt like sometimes we were trying not to lose and not make mistakes (playing scared) instead of playing our basketball and winning."

Next up is TCU fan John Morgan Ford He said, "They did a great job running the floor this year with good transition buckets from defense to offense. The Frogs had good guard play and good play designs. They need to work on being stronger with the ball in the paint and better in the post. However, they played great as a team and lifted each other up. But at times, I think they left their foot off the gas towards the end of games."

TCU graduate and huge TCU fan Luke Pulido said "I'd say that Mike Miles is a freak of nature and will be in the league. The team was extremely athletic and held their own, but their shooting sometimes killed them."

TCU student Jessica Davis said, "I think they had excellent team chemistry and were able to fight back when they were down, as well as they had good rebounding and defense. They could definitely work on defense in transition, as well as free throw and getting the ball to their best shooters in clutch time."

Keith Ashcraft, a TCU huge and follower, said, "The culture and team aspects of the team are definitely on track. I love their improvements in up-tempo offense, but they really need to improve their offensive rebounding, and they really need to fix the free throw shooting."

A TCU graduate and Horned Frog follower, Jackson Harvey, said, "I think we were great on the fast break and not so great from the three and free throw shooting. Those were the killers."

Overall the Frogs have had an amazing season and we could have asked for anything better! They fought hard and gave it their all!

What will next season look like? Who is staying and who is leaving?

Let's start with Mike Miles Jr. It is reasonable to guess that he is on his way to getting drafted and playing professionally. However, he still has collegiate eligibility left; I think he will forgo that and fulfill his dreams. Horned Frog fans, including myself, can't thank him enough and be more proud of what he has done at TCU. He will forever be a Horned Frog Legend.

Now for Damion Baugh, this is a little trickier; he still has college eligibility left. Last season, he entered his name into the draft but came back. Rumors say that he has been in talks with coaches about returning, but that is unknown at the time. Either way, Baugh has been huge for TCU and has given it his all. He has evolved as a player and seems to get better each year. I would love to have him return, but either way, I am happy for him and thankful for everything he has done.

As for Emanuel Miller, he still has eligibility left but has said he will declare for the draft. This does not mean he is gone, because he has decided to maintain his collegiate eligibility. Either way, he has been great for TCU and has given it his all.

Next up is Chuck O'Bannon (Mr. Postseason). O'Bannon has played six college basketball seasons but still has one more year of eligibility left. He has been a great TCU player, especially when crunch time hits. He has yet to decide if he's coming back; however, there is a good chance he will run it back!

Xavier Cork will be entering his third season, assuming he comes back. Cork has had an uptick in playing time and production after the departure of Eddie Lampkin Jr. If he does come back, I look forward to seeing the growth next season.

JaKobe Coles is coming off his best season yet, and he was one of the best shooters on this roster. Assuming he stays, I think he will be one of the biggest keys to this team next season. Like Coles, I think Micah Peavy and Shahada Wells will be keys next season, also assuming they stay. They were pretty good this season, and I expect them to be even better next season. I look forward to watching Rondel Walker next season; he started to get more playing time toward the end of the season. I want him to return to the production he was putting up at Oklahoma State. Souleymane Doumbia is another person im hoping stays. He can get better and be a solid big man for this team.

P.J. Haggerty after only a season at TCU has entered the portal which is very unfortunate, because I think he has a lot of potential. I wish him the best regardless if he stays or leaves. Again this is just my crystal ball nothing is certain or final, so stay tuned for any updates that come about! TCU Men's Basketball had a fantastic run, and I want to thank them for all the fun I had while watching them. I can't wait to watch them run it back next year.
