A strong offensive first half accompanied by a stout defensive second half saw TCU (17-7, 6-5) cruise to a victory over West Virginia (8-16, 3-8) 81-65. The win moves Jamie Dixon into a tie with Billy Tubbs for second all-time in wins at TCU with 156.

It was a game which saw the Frogs hold the lead the entire way after the first five minutes. The Frogs shot 55% from the field at the half and led 47-35. They led by as many as 22 in the second half courtesy of a Chuck O'Bannon dunk.

In the second half, the Mountaineers shot a poor 9-30 from the field. They turned it over 19 times which led to 26 TCU points off turnovers. For the Frogs, it was a collective scoring effort. Emanuel Miller, Trevian Tennyson and Jameer Nelson Jr. each scored 14 points. Nelson made his return to the starting lineup and recorded five rebounds, a career high four blocks and three steals. Micah Peavy also had an all-around effort recording nine points, seven rebounds and five assists.

As JaKobe Coles said postgame, "This was a must-win." This Big 12 conference is stacked and there aren't many opportunities to pick up an easy win but West Virginia is struggling. Off the back of a 36-point loss to Texas, TCU had to get this one and they did just that.

With a 6-5 conference record, the Frogs have moved into sixth in the Big 12. Their next opponent will be Kansas State in Manhattan on Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPNU.
