TCU Women's Basketball Prepares For Road Test Against Kansas

Here's a look ahead of this weeks matchup Horned Frogs against the Jayhawks
TCU WBB Twitter

Things just keep going South for the Horned this season. They have not won a road game yet. They have not won a Big 12 game yet. And this team just keeps getting plagued with nagging injuries. Hopefully, this narrative can change this Wednesday.

The Horned Frogs in their last matchup against Oklahoma State through three quarters held a 2-point lead. But when the fourth quarter started, the Cowgirls busted out with a 16-0 run, which ruined the Horned Frogs chances of winning.

What you can expect for this next game is more players stepping up with Knisha Godfrey and Tomi Taiwo both potentially being out. You can expect big minutes again from Emily Fisher and Tara Manumaleuga. Fisher may have only scored a few baskets, but she did a fantastic job setting her teammates by getting them good looks on offense. Manumaleuga was one of those teammates she was setting up. Manumaleuga cashed in 19 points  that day. Which helped Lucy Ibeh whom also had 19 points herself.

The Horned Frogs are practically there. They just have not played a full four quarters of basketball. Its either they start to slow, or they cannot finish a game in the crunch time minutes.

Other stats to keep in mind for the upcoming matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks:

  • TCU shot a season-best .491 from the field (26-of-53) against Oklahoma State (02/04).
  • TCU shot a season-high .500 (13-of-26) 3-point percentage against Oklahoma (01/31).
  • TCU ranks first in the Big 12 in steals with 8.82 per game in conference play.
  • TCU averages 3.55 blocks per game, ranking them fifth in the Big 12.
  • Bella Cravens’ 1.20 blocks per game is fourth in the Big 12. She has 24 total blocked shots.
  •  With her team-leading 90 assists, Emily Fisher is sixth in the Big 12 in assists per game (4.10).
  • The 2022-23 season marks the ninth season for head coach Raegan Pebley, who holds a record of 139-131 at TCU, is 295-306 overall in her 20th season as a head coach.
