TCU Women's Basketball Preview: Kansas
The TCU Horned Frogs finally got a mid-week bye on the season and now will host the Kansas Jayhawks at home on Saturday the 3rd at 6 p.m.
In their last contest, the Horned Frogs couldn't hold onto the lead and suffered a defeat to Texas Tech despite a 19-point performance from Agnes Emma-Nnopu. Standout newcomer Aaliyah Roberson also played a significant role on the offensive side of the ball after a 15-point performance against the Red Raiders.
Kansas will bring key players of their own, as they will be led by their top scorer, S'Mya Nichols, who averages 14 points per game and shoots 46% from the field. The other Jayhawk to watch for is center Taiyanna Jackson; she will aim to control the boards with her team-leading ten rebounds per game while averaging 12 points a game, respectively.
Path To Victory
TCU's path to victory is simple: continue to play stellar defense. The Horned Frogs allowed the fourth fewest points in the conference at 58.3 points per game, while Kansas had the third-lowest points at 67.3. If the Horned Frogs continue to play their style of basketball, they should be able to finish this weekend with a victory.
Other Players to Watch
- Sydney Harris (TCU)- double-digit points in the previous three games
- Una Jovanovic (TCU)- shooting 50% from the field the last four games
- Zakiyah Franklin (KU)- Averages 11 points per game
- Holly Kersgieter (KU)- Averages 10 points per game
