TCU Women's Basketball Preview: Texas Tech
The TCU Horned Frogs will take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock on Saturday at 3 p.m. as they hope to get their second win of the week after hosting open tryouts a week ago.
The Horned Frogs will need a big game from Aaliyah Roberson, who helped lead the victory against UCF on Tuesday with 17 points, shooting 80% from the field and four assists on the day.
However, Roberson won't be on her own alone, with the standout newcomer from this week, Una Jovanovic, helping lead the way. Jovanovic had her first big game of the season when the Frogs needed it the most with the roster depletion, shooting 60% from the field and finishing with 11 points in the last contest against UCF.
On the other side of the court, the Red Raiders will be Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers, who average 14 points per game and provide a lethal backcourt for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders average over 70 points per game; if the Horned Frogs want to win, they will have to play great interior defense and force Texas Tech to take shots from behind the arc, the weakest part of their offense.
TCU could get a massive reinforcement into their already depleted roster if the Big 12's leading three-point shooter, Madison Conner, can go for this contest after sitting out against UCF this week.
