TCU Women’s Basketball: The Horned Frogs Move to 18-9 After Win Against Houston.
It seems as though TCU Women’s Basketball is back to full strength as both Sedona Prince and Madison Conner were on the floor for the Frogs in their 59-49 win against Houston. It was the first time the two have played together since the loss against Baylor back in early January.
In a primarily defensive game, the outcome might have been different had Prince not been able to play. The 6'7" forward ended the day with 15 points, six rebounds, and two blocks. While Prince did have seven turnovers, one has to remember that she likely won't be 100% immediately.
The Frogs had three other scorers reach double digits in the win. Conner ended with 11 points, Agnes Emma-Nnopu ended with 13 points, and Sydney Harris ended with 13 points in a game where multiple players were asked to deliver throughout the game.
Houston's leading scorers consisted of Laila Blair and Nyah Boyd. Blair ended with 14 points and four assists, while Boyd ended the game with 13 points and four rebounds.
Points were hard to come by while playing a tough Houston defense, especially so in the 2nd half. The TCU offense jumped out ahead and kept a solid 16-point lead going into halftime. While the offense still produced enough in the 2nd half to secure the win, there was a notable difference in momentum for most of the 3rd and 4th quarters.
In Head Coach Mark Campbell's postgame interview, one thing he stressed was the fact that Prince affects every shot made on the court based on her defensive ability. the head coach also mentioned how resilient the team was during the rough conference play schedule.
