After what was a neck-and-neck game at the Schollmaier Arena on Saturday, the Texas Longhorns pulled away to defeat the No. 25 TCU Horned Frogs 77-66.

The Longhorns went on a terrific run in the final minutes, spearheaded by guard Max Abmas. He led the Longhorns with 21 points–13 of which came in the final 3 minutes and 25 seconds.

Following a missed layup by the Frogs, Abmas nailed a corner three over Micah Peavy to give Texas a 70-64 lead. Moments later, he sunk a dagger three to extend Texas' advantage to 73-64.

Alongside Abmas were Dylan Disu and Dillon Mitchell, who netted 15 and 13 points, respectively. Mitchell also had a dominant day at the glass, grabbing 11 rebounds.

Texas outrebounded the Frogs 34-21. It was TCU's lowest rebound total of the season.

Following the game, head coach Jamie Dixon talked about his team's struggles on the glass. "That was certainly the difference. We simply didn't get it done, and I'm really disappointed by it. They clearly were the more aggressive team and physical team… and they got it done," he said.

Emanuel Miller said, "As for offensive rebounds, I think we did a poor job of going to the glass. Credit to Texas for boxing out, but I think we need to fight a little bit harder."

While the Frogs struggled rebounding against a physical Longhorns squad, free throws proved an issue once again. But this time, it was for a different reason. Texas shot 13-15 (87%) while TCU converted on 7-12 (71%). TCU simply did not get enough looks.

Dixon said, "We didn't get to the line enough. That was a big factor. They were at the free throw line way more than we were… We've got to get more free throws. I don't know how we get seven free throws."

As Texas improves to 15-7, 4-5 in the Big 12, TCU now sits at 16-6, 5-4 in the Big 12. TCU will have a week before traveling to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones on Feb 10.
