TCU Women's Basketball: Frogs Win Big Over BYU In Conference Opener
TCU started Big 12 play with a win after defeating the BYU Cougars 81-63. The Frogs move to 14-0 on the season and look to make noise in a strong Big 12 conference with teams like #5 Texas, #10 Baylor, #11 Kansas State, and #25 West Virginia. The Horned Frogs are currently ranked #23 in the nation with a tough challenge ahead of them against Baylor on January 1.

TCU dominated offensively throughout the game with Sedona Prince (25 points), Agnes Emma-Nnopu (14 points), and Jaden Owens (15 points) recording a double-double. While Madison Conner didn't record a double-double, she was dynamic when she possessed the ball, scoring 21 points. The three BYU players with double-digit points were Kailey Woolston with 15, Amari Whitling with 13, and Lauren Gustin with 10.
For the majority of the game, BYU kept up with TCU offensively. Still, a few streaks of TCU scores and a defensive performance from Sedona Prince against BYU's leading scorer Lauren Gustin led the Frogs to a solid win against a 10-4 BYU team. Offensively, TCU shot 50% from the 3-point line, 50.8% on field goals, and 81.8% from the free-throw line.
It's no secret that Sedona Prince and Madison Conner have been great additions to this TCU basketball team, but what has been a game-changer for the Horned Frogs has been the threat of the 3-point shot. As a team, the Frogs are shooting almost 40% from the 3-point line, most of which have been made by Madison Conner, who has drained 62 this season in 14 games.
So far in the 2023-24 season, Coach Mark Campbell and his team have already turned heads across college basketball. TCU's offense has emerged as a force to be reckoned with as they continue to lead the Big 12 in double-doubles with 18. Coach Campbell needs only four wins to break Raegan Peebly's 2014-15 win tally for most wins in a season by a first-year head coach.
The Horned Frogs are back in action against their rival Baylor next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN. #10 Baylor is 8-0 at home this season, so TCU will need to show out in Waco to get a win.
