Women's Basketball: Haley Cavinder Announces Commitment to TCU

Former Miami standout and social media star Haley Cavinder is heading to Fort Worth.

Mark Campbell added another household name to the  TCU women's basketball roster in former Fresno State and Miami star Haley Cavinder

Cavinder spent the first three years of her collegiate career at Fresno State, averaging 18.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. Following the 2021-2022 season, Haley and her twin sister Hanna, who also starred for the Bulldogs, announced their intentions to transfer to the University of Miami. Haley played an average of six fewer minutes per game at Miami but still contributed 12.2 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, and 2.5 assists per game.

Led by Cavinder, the Hurricanes advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament before falling to LSU, the eventual national champs.

As good as a player she is, Haley Cavinder may be more recognizable for her social media following and NIL deals. Haley has over 150,000 followers, and her personal TikTok account and the account she shares with her twin sister, @cavindertwins, have over 4.5 million followers. Before "retiring" from basketball after the 2023 season, the sisters had NIL deals with Raising Cane's and Champs Sports.

Cavinder will not play for the Frogs until the 2024-2025 season, but her basketball talent and her social media presence will bring lots of exposure to a TCU program that has struggled for years.

Campbell, who took the head coaching job at TCU in the offseason, has assembled a roster full of talent and is off to a 3-0 start this season. Next year's roster addition of Cavinder could take Campbell's rebuilt process to another level, especially if the Horned Frogs can turn in a strong season this year.

A potential duo of Sedona Prince and Haley Cavinder next year is not only dangerous on the basketball court, but the star's recognizability can put TCU women's basketball in the national spotlight.
