Women's Basketball: TCU Games Versus Kansas State, Iowa State Cancelled
After a dream start to the Mark Campbell era at TCU, things are starting to make a turn. The Horned Frogs started their season winning 14 straight games but have since been suddenly plagued by the injury bug, which has resulted in four straight conference losses.
On Tuesday, TCU guard Jaden Owens announced that she would miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Before her injury, Owens was averaging 7.9 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and a team-high 6.8 assists per game. She joins star center Sedona Prince, who has been out since the beginning of January with a dislocated finger, on the injury report.
TCU was slated to play No. 7 Kansas State and No. 24 Iowa State this week, but a lack of healthy players has resulted in game cancellations. Per a press release from TCU, "The cancellations are a result of injuries within the TCU program and ensure the health and safety of the program's student-athletes. Both contests will count as a forfeit for TCU in accordance with Big 12 rules. The games will not be made up."
The Horned Frogs' overall record will not be affected, but their Big 12 conference record will be. The two forfeits move the Frogs to 1-6 in the Big 12 and remain at 14-4 overall.
