Football Poll Watching Week 9: Top Five Remain Unchanged
Week 8's games didn't do much to change the top 5 in this week's rankings, but they sure changed the rest.
Penn State, who lost to Ohio State, dropped but is still in the Top 10. North Carolina, who lost to Virginia, fell seven spots in both polls, the most of any team this week. USC lost to Utah on a walk-off field goal and dropped six places.
The Top Five teams are identical in both polls - Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, and Washington.
Oklahoma moved up one spot in the Coaches Poll and is now No. 6 in both polls. Texas moved up one place and is No. 7 in both polls. Kansas State and Oklahoma State receive votes in both polls, while Kansas receives votes in the Coaches Poll.
The Dukes of James Madison University, who joined the FBS last year, are ranked No. 25 in both polls. It's the first time in their history to be ranked in both polls. Last year, they were ranked at No. 25 in the AP Top 25 for one week.
Here are the highlights from both the AP Top 25 poll and the AFCA Coaches Poll:
