Big 12 Football Week 11: Which Games Should You Watch?

Week 11 is here and the slate looks solid for the weekend, but not every game will be worth watching. Breaking down which games you should watch and which games can be ignored.

What a great week of games Week 10 was. Kansas State and Texas went to overtime, the potential last bedlam did not disappoint, and Houston against Baylor went to overtime. Out of the seven conference games, six of them were decided by one possession. This weekend's slate does not have the same great matchups but should have some hidden gems, so I will break down which games you should pay attention to and what games you can ignore.

Texas quarterback Maalik Murphy (6) warms up ahead of the Longhorns' game against the BYU Cougars at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023.

1. #15 Oklahoma State at UCF

This game ranks number one because I think this could be a potential trap game for the Cowboys. Coming off a big win against Oklahoma and going against a UCF team with nothing to lose is a potentially dangerous combination.

2. Iowa State at BYU

The Cyclones have quietly put together a great season, but going to BYU at night is a scary place to be. While this game will lack the offensive fireworks the Big 12 is used to, it will feature two excellent defenses and a great atmosphere for any neutral fan.

3. #7 Texas at TCU

The Longhorns have had trouble with the Horned Frogs, but Texas was victorious on their last trip to Fort Worth. TCU has had a disappointing season, but the final matchup for the foreseeable future and a coaching staff that might be coaching for their job could make this game much closer than people think.

4. Texas Tech at #16 Kansas

The recurring theme here seems to be teams who had a worse-than-expected season against teams who have been great all season. The Red Raiders have struggled, but this Jayhawks team is beatable, and that could be proved this weekend.

5. Cincinnati at Houston

This game isn't exciting, but these two teams will battle it out, with the Bearcats looking for their first conference win since joining the conference. The teams have opposite strengths and should potentially keep this game close.

6. West Virginia at #17 Oklahoma

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Five weeks into the season, Sooners fans were on cloud nine, but the team has suffered two losses in back-to-back weeks, and both have come due to a struggling offense. West Virginia has a stout defense but won't be able to score enough to keep this game close; this could be a blowout late into the second half.

7. Baylor at #25 Kansas State

The season hasn't been kind to the Baylor Bears, and this weekend will not be any more forgiving. Kansas State is playing its best football of the season right now and will look to continue that at home against Baylor; look for this game to be a blowout, a blowout quickly.

"Fort Worth" Game of the Week

We know that Fort Worth is better than Dallas. So, each week, I will give you the best FBS game of the week, aka the Fort Worth Game of the Week: This is must-see TV.
