Big 12 Football Week 3: Which Games Should You Watch?

Every Big 12 team plays this week, but which game will be the best game to watch and have the biggest implications?

Week Three is finally here. While this is probably the worst slate this season in college football, the Big 12 is looking to go three weeks straight of having a team in the most-watched game of the week. Week One was TCU; last week, it was Texas. Could this week be Kansas State? West Virginia? Let's review what I believe are the best Big 12 games this week, which ones you should prioritize, and which ones you should check only the final scores.

This week will also be the first time this season that we do not have fourteen games; Big 12 conference play kicks off, so there will only be thirteen games to cover.

Ranking the Big 12 Week 3 Games

1. #15 Kansas State at Missouri

Kansas State at Missouri might just be the best Big 12 game and the best college football game this weekend. Klieman has never lost a non-conference game against another Power 5 opponent since he came to Kansas State, while Drinkwitz has built a sneaky program that could be an excellent team come SEC conference play time.

2. West Virginia at Pitt

The 106th meeting of the "Backyard Brawl," one of the most storied rivalries in college football, will be played in Morgantown this year. I'd love to put this as the week's number one game, but I have no idea how this game will go. It could go to three overtimes, or either team could blow out the other by halftime. Regardless, it will be a top game to watch for the atmosphere alone.

3. TCU at Houston

It's the first Big 12 conference game of the year, and this one should provide a lot of fireworks. TCU's defense gave up 45 points to Colorado in Week One, and Houston gave up 48 points to Rice last week. This should be a high-octane, offensive slugfest and make for a great watch.

4. BYU at Arkansas

On paper, this looks like a great game, right? Except this isn't the typical BYU team. They are in a heavy rebuilding year and don't have the pieces to compete against a talented but not deep Arkansas team. This won't be a blowout, but it won't be a one-score game, either.

5. Cincinnati vs. Miami (OH)

This is one of those games that could end up being close. It's an in-state rivalry game, and Miami has a fantastic program that won't be a rollover game for the Bearcats.

6. #4 Texas vs. Wyoming

This has the makings to be an upset game for Texas; they just came off their best win of the last three years, are the fourth-ranked team in the country, and now get a group of five teams that isn't easy to beat (ask Texas Tech). Sounds like a recipe for an upset to me. If Texas can blow Wyoming out, that will tell us much about their mindset this season.

7. Baylor vs. Long Island

What's going on down in Waco? Baylor is 0-2 this year, and while they played Utah well last week (minus the last two minutes of the game), they are still looking for their first win. Baylor should get that this week. If this game is close, it might be time to sound the panic alarm.

8. Oklahoma State vs. South Alabama

Hear me out: I think this will be a close game, but South Alabama walks out of Stillwater with a win. Gundy and crew are still searching for competent quarterback play, and South Alabama is stout against the run but awful against the pass. This could be a low-scoring affair or a shootout, but it should be an interesting watch nonetheless.

9. Texas Tech vs. Tarleton State

Like Baylor, Texas Tech is looking for their first win of the year after heartbreaking defeats. Tech should come out in this game and dominate from start to finish. They have a lot of pent-up anger (and tortillas) to release, and poor Tarleton State will receive all of it.

10. Iowa State at Ohio

This will be a low-scoring defensive battle until the fourth quarter, when Iowa State's depth has them winning by a solid margin. It won't be a pretty game, but if you like defense, I would tune into this game.

11. #19 Oklahoma at Tulsa

Coming off a tough battle against SMU, the offense will have another chance to show out like they did in week one. Tulsa will be banged up after playing No. 8 Washington last week, which should prevent this one from being close.

12. Kansas at Nevada

I wanted to put this game higher simply because what Jalon Daniels will do to this Nevada defense will be incredible to watch. Nevada just suffered a 33-6 loss to FCS Idaho. This game will not be close in even the slightest bit.

13. UCF vs. Villanova

This game shouldn't be close; Gus Malzhan is an excellent coach who will have this team prepared. The only thing worth noting from this game is backup quarterback Timmy Mcclain's play, with John Rhys Plumlee out four weeks with a leg injury.

"Fort Worth" Game of the Week

We know that Fort Worth is better than Dallas. So, each week, I will give you the best FBS game of the week, aka the Fort Worth Game of the Week: This is a must-see TV.

"Dallas" Game of the Week

If the "Fort Worth" Game is the best game in FBS, then the "Dallas" Game is obviously the worst game of the week. Don't even bother watching this one.
