After a brutal week one loss at the hands of Colorado, TCU had a get-right matchup with Nicholls St., and while it wasn't a perfect game by any means, getting that first win of the season, regardless of the opponent, feels good.

Head Coach Sonny Dykes said he really liked what he saw from the special teams unit. A blocked punt opened up the scoring for the Horned Frogs, and they got pressure all night long on punts. Right before halftime, Griffin Kell booted a 57-yard field goal, tying the school record. He also added a 42-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Later in the first, Chandler Morris utilized his legs, scoring a 32-yard touchdown to make it 14-0 TCU. Morris finished 26-30 for 263 yards with two touchdowns through the air and also added 63 yards on the ground and a score. He found Jaylon Robinson a lot in the first half, who finished with five grabs for 39 yards and a score.

After the game, Morris said he wanted to use his legs a lot more this game and felt more decisive in his decisions. He's hoping to build off both of those things moving forward.

The defense also had a much improved game, holding the Colonels out of the end zone. There was definitely more energy and passion from the defensive line, and that seemed to reflect on the rest of the defense. The entire unit felt that it had something to prove after surrendering 45 points to Colorado, and last night was a step in the right direction.

Despite the win, there were still some areas of concern for the Frogs. The offensive line didn't hold up as well as Coach Dykes hoped, and he hopes they can improve next week in practice. TCU was also just 4-12 on third down and 2-4 on fourth down. They struggled at times in short-yardage situations.

TCU improves to 1-1 on the season and will begin Big 12 play on the road against Houston next Saturday.
