Football season begins on Saturday, and it does so with huge national exposure for the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs and their game with the Colorado Buffaloes. Amon G. Carter Stadium will be the backdrop for Fox's "Big Noon Kickoff," the network's pregame show for the college football weekend.

"Big Noon Kickoff" debuted on Fox in 2019. Initially, it was broadcast from the Fox Sports studio in Los Angeles, with only a handful of onsite appearances. The show was on location six times that first season, three in the shortened 2020 season, and then 12 times in 2021. Last season, 2022, was the first year that the show was broadcast on location every week.

In 2022, TCU made two appearances within three weeks. The first was November 5 in Fort Worth when then-No. 7 TCU hosted Texas Tech. Then, the show was live from Waco on November 19 when then-No. 4 TCU played at Baylor. TCU is 2-0 when Big Noon Kickoff is present for its game.

The 1.000 win percentage is the highest of any team with two or more appearances on the show. Four other teams - Alabama, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Oregon - have all made one appearance. Each of those won their game, so they also have a 1.000 win percentage.

This will be the first appearance on the show for Colorado. However, the Buffs will make back-to-back appearances, as the show will broadcast on September 9 from Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Nebraska versus Colorado game.

In addition to Big Noon Kickoff, TCU has also made 11 appearances on ESPN's College GameDay. TCU is 8-3 in those games, with a .727 percentage, the second-highest for teams with multiple appearances.

Before this weekend’s showdown, let's take a trip down memory lane and remember those first two Big Noon Kickoff appearances:

November 5, 2022 - Fort Worth, Texas

The Frogs were 8-0 in Sonny Dyke's first year as head coach. In October, TCU had four straight wins over Top 20 teams, including No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 19 Kansas, No. 8 Oklahoma State, and No. 17 Kansas State.

Derius Davis took a punt return 82 yards for a touchdown to put the Frogs on the board first. Tech would take the lead in the 1st Quarter and then again in the 3rd Quarter, but as TCU had done all season, they found a way to come back in the 4th and secure the win.

Bazooka! It's the one word that will forever be ingrained in the minds of Frog fans for a lifetime. Games between these two arch-rivals are always competitive. This game was no exception.

The year before, Baylor came into Fort Worth with hopes of reaching the CFP, only to be denied by Chandler Morris and team, playing in their first game without legendary coach Gary Patterson. TCU won that. In 2022, Baylor wanted revenge in their home stadium and wanted to know the Frogs off their CFP path. And they almost got their wish.

The hero of the game was Griffin Kell. Who, with no timeouts left and seconds remaining in the game, ran out onto the field. The play, which the Frogs practiced every week, was called "Bazooka." And it worked. As time expired, Kell's 40-yard field goal sailed through the uprights, giving the Frogs a one-point win, and keeping their CFP dreams alive.
