The TCU Horned Frogs (3-3, 1-2) look to get their season back on track coming off two consecutive losses. They host former Mountain West foe, the BYU Cougars (4-1, 1-1) in Week 7 of the college football season. TCU is a 6-point favorite, and the game carries an over/under of 52.5 points. This season, TCU has been favored in all six games, but lost three outright, including two as a double-digit favorite.

BYU at TCU kicks off Saturday, October 14, at 3:30 p.m. CT from Amon G. Carter Stadium. Watch the game on ESPN or stream on the radio at 88.7 FM KTCU.

BYU at TCU Pick Against The Spread

TCU has a lot more going against it this weekend than it does things going for it. Chiefly, losing starting Chandler Morris is perhaps the biggest issue on tap for the Frogs. In his place, inexperienced Josh Hoover gets the start. His limited snaps this season have often been tumultuous, though he completed 11-of-19 passes and threw a touchdown pass last weekend against Iowa State.

The other major factor going against TCU is that BYU enters the game with a rest advantage. The Cougars were on bye last weekend and last played on Friday in Week 5 at home. They have momentum and plenty of rest – a dangerous combination even though BYU is the road team this weekend.

Head coach Kalani Sitake runs a tight ship at BYU. The Cougars are very disciplined, with few penalties or turnovers this season. The defensive unit is also greatly improved from being one of the worst last season under new coordinator Jay Hill.

Ultimately, there's too much negative momentum for TCU and too many factors going against them in this game. I'm betting BYU +6 (-110) in this game. The Cougars are very live to win this game outright.

BYU at TCU Over/Under Pick

This number sits near a key figure in college football totals betting. 52 points is the second-most frequent occurrence in college football over the last five seasons, behind only 55 points. The number was briefly bet up to 53.5, but the market resisted and brought it back down.

Given the pace of both teams, defensive prowess on both sidelines, and the possibility of TCU's offense struggling under a different QB, I'm betting under 52.5 points.

There's also forecasted winds in Fort Worth on Saturday. The wind historically affects totals at or above 15 mph, which is what the sustained breeze is expected to be, with gusts into the 20s during the game. Watch for the breezy weather to force more run game from both teams.
