And now for the inexplicably obligatory narrative.
Our Frogs aren't looking too good. We lost what we took to be a gimme, and that brings our overall record to 3-2. In some ways, our meeting against Iowa State is the most crucial yet, as it will give us a good idea as to whether we can expect a winning season (or at least to break even). If we can't beat the Cyclones, we're likely to die brutally at the hands of Texas and Oklahoma, to say nothing of those of Kansas State and BYU.
And Iowa State is by no means a guarantee. With the exception of a decisive defeat against Oklahoma, their defeats have been as ours--by a touchdown or less. And, in fairness to them, they put up a better fight against Oklahoma than most.
On the other hand, Sonny Dykes is absolutely right to point out that we are only a couple of plays from a perfect record. Last season, we consistently brought the goods in the second half. Those good blessings have yet to fall upon us this time out.
Perhaps, just perhaps, our boys will decide to bring everything they've got from beginning to end.
Either way, I'll be watching, clad in purple, boozing, and engaging in all forms of debauchery.
Go Frogs!
