The highly anticipated Iron Skillet matchup between SMU and TCU has gone back and forth the last two seasons, with each team winning on the road.

This year, the Horned Frogs took down the Mustangs at home 34-17 in front of 51,243. The win marks the fourth straight year head coach Sonny Dykes has won this game, two coming with SMU and two with TCU.

SMU had a long opening drive that lasted 6:17 but resulted in a field goal. On TCU's second possession, they converted a critical 4th and 1, and a few plays later, Chandler Morris found Jared Wiley for a nine-yard score to put TCU up 7-3.

On the ensuing drive, TCU came up with a huge stop on fourth down deep in their own territory. The Frogs were terrific in short yardage situations coming up with critical stops as SMU went just 1-3 on fourth down.

The Morris-to-Wiley connection was clicking as Wiley scored his second touchdown of the game in the second quarter to put the Frogs up 14-3. After the game, Wiley said, "We're just learning to trust each other more...so yeah, I think that'll [our chemistry] just continue to climb as the season goes along." Morris is stringing together some great performances, with today throwing for 261 yards with three touchdowns with no turnovers.

After a pair of field goals, Emani Bailey ran 27 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 27-10. Bailey finished with 126 yards on 25 carries.

The Frogs’ defense has allowed just two touchdowns since the loss to Colorado and is starting to build confidence. The secondary was terrific, winning most of the one-on-one battles and at the catch point. They snagged two interceptions late, courtesy of Josh Newton and Bud Clark. The safety-turned-linebacker Namdi Obiazor led the team with 11 tackles.

It certainly felt this was the best game TCU has played this season. They improve to 3-1 and are starting to pick up some momentum as they resume Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs will host West Virginia next Saturday at 7 p.m.
