TCU Soccer: Frogs defeat Jayhawks 1-0
No. 23 TCU dominated in Thursday’s match against the Kansas Jayhawks, and courtesy of a team effort, the Horned Frogs remain undefeated in conference play and have won six consecutive games.
Kansas came out quick, heavily pressing TCU in the early going. The Horned Frogs did well to keep possession and control the tempo. Between Grace Coppinger and Jennie Immethun, the back line was fortified throughout the match. Immethun, who made her 5th consecutive match, made incredibly disciplined decisions defensively to halt the Jayhawks’ attack.
While Kansas struggled to hold possession, when they did it never amounted to anything significant. The Jayhawks tried to build out from the back, but TCU’s pressure voided any attempt to start an attack.
TCU continued to pile the pressure, getting their outside backs involved in the attack. Their breakthrough finally came in the 40th minute when Skylar Heinrich threaded the needle to find Gracie Brian, who calmly finished past goalkeeper Melania Pasar.
For Brian, it’s her 6th goal of the season and it was a crucial one. Her goal was enough to see out a 1-0 victory over the Jayhawks, who remain winless in conference play. But for TCU, they are now undefeated in their last seven matches and are playing their best brand of soccer.
