Sunday, No. 23 TCU traveled to Lubbock to take on the No. 7 Texas Tech Red Raiders. In a match whose winner would take sole position of 1st place in the Big 12 standings, the Frogs were unable to overcome Texas Tech. The Red Raiders won 1-0.

The Frogs got out to a potent start, putting the Red Raiders under immense pressure. Olivia Hasler had the game’s first real opportunity on goal in the 4th minute, but her shot was safely gathered by goalkeeper Madison White. Throughout the half, TCU controlled the vast majority of possession and outshot Texas Tech.

Entering the half scoreless, the Frogs continued to impose their game in the second 45 minutes. In the 70th minute, Bella Diorio found Gracie Brian on the end of a cross, but Brian’s header just sailed over the goal.

Minutes later, the Red Raiders took advantage of a mistake from the Frogs and turned it into a goal in the 72nd minute. Midfielder Alex Kerr slotted a shot past Lauren Kellett for what would be the game-winning goal.

It was a frustrating second half for TCU who didn’t play up to the standards they set in the first half. With Sunday’s loss, it ends a seven-game unbeaten run, and hands TCU its first loss in Big 12 conference play.

The Frogs will head home to take on the University of Houston on Thursday, Oct. 12 in its penultimate home match of the season.
