Former Tennessee Volunteers baseball player Nick Senzel will be getting his shot in the Major Leagues for the Washington Nationals.

Opening Day has officially concluded, and the Washington Nationals are making a move to the farm system after taking a beating from the Cincinnati Reds. According to Andrew Golden, a former Volunteer got the call.

Former Volunteer Nick Senzel sustained an injury before the game even began on Thursday, sidelining him for opening day. Former Volunteers third baseman Trey Lipscomb was called up after posting a successful spring with a batting average of .400. He competed with Luis Garcia for the second base job. He rose to the double-a scene throughout his Nationals' farm system stand. He was reported to skip triple-a and make his MLB debut very soon.

In his 2023 season, he hit 14 home runs and 72 RBIs and stole only ten bases. The former Volunteer was known for his deep shots in his final year in the record-breaking season that was hosted by Drew Gilbert, Jordan Beck, and Lipscomb. The Nationals' next game is against the Reds again on Saturday at 4:10 p.m. ET. The series will come to an end on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. ET.

Before being called up to the big leagues, Lipscomb was rated outside of the top 100 prospects by quite a margin and was rated as the No. 16 prospect in the Nationals farm system, which is headlined by former LSU Tigers outfielder and superstar Dylan Crews. With his overall development, Lipscomb could be a great MLB player. He is continuing to get better and better.
