In the season's second game, the Tennessee Volunteers made program history. Late in the game against the Oklahoma Sooners, the Volunteers completed a triple play for the first time since 1997.

Left-handed pitcher Chris Stamos debuted on Saturday and made an excellent play on the field. The game was tied 1-1 in the 7th inning, and the Sooners attempted to bunt to advance the runners on base to third and second. As the bunt popped up, Stamos made a diving catch and gunned it to second to get the 2nd out after the advancing runner attempted to advance to third. While getting the force out, Christian Moore also tagged the advancing runner at second base to complete the triple play in the 7th. This was a game-changing play for Tennessee and a huge momentum spark for the Orange and White.

This is a Sports Center Top 10 caliber play towards the top of the elite plays made. Stamos made a great impact in his debut and did what needed to be done to put a mark on the wall in this extremely deep bullpen rotation.

The Volunteers are set to play their Shriners finale against the Baylor Bears at Globe Life Field on Sunday at 7:30 pm EST. The pitcher is still to be determined for the Sunday game, but with plays like this specific play. Stamos may work his way up into a bigger role and be a starter-capable option. The effort was the most impressive part of this whole play, showing what type of heart this Volunteers squad has.
