Cooper Mays Not Participating In Senior Day Activities

Tennessee Volunteers center Cooper Mays will not participate in senior day activities with the team.
In this story:

Today is Tennessee’s seasonal senior day, on which the Volunteers will honor the senior athletes on the football team. Usually, all seniors participate, but a certain senior has already opted out of senior day activities.

Cooper Mays is a hometown senior who measures in at around 6-3 and 305 pounds and plays center for the Volunteers. Cooper is the brother of current NFL offensive lineman Cade Mays. The younger Mays holds many accolades, including the Senior Bowl watch list, a preseason All-SEC third team, the academic honor roll, and many more.

Cooper has been the heart and soul of this Tennessee offensive line, and he has almost felt like the glue piece and was dominant right away as he returned from an injury he suffered right before the season kicked off. It has been clear that Tennessee wants some of these seniors, if not all of them, that have the eligibility to return for another season, and Mays falls under that category. Cooper Mays holds one more season of eligibility if he wishes to take it, and all signs point towards that being a realistic possibility. Although he has not publicly stated that he is returning to Tennessee, there is a good chance that he does because he is not participating with his senior class teammates on senior day.

It will be interesting to see who in this senior class will return to play for the Vols again and who will move on from the Tennessee program. Mays has been one of the big names in that conversation, and this is a positive for all Vols fans who want him to stay at Tennessee.
