2025 QB Deuce Knight Commits To Notre Dame Over Tennessee, Others
The Tennessee Volunteers recruited Deuce Knight as much as anyone during the last few months. They were his third offer and had high interest initially, but ultimately, they couldn't finish. Knight committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Monday, becoming their third commit in the 2025 class.
Knight saw several different suitors surge over the past nine months. He named Tennessee his leader in March, and then Alabama offered, and there were murmurs he may be headed to Tuscaloosa. Auburn and Ole Miss were also in the mix, and Knight frequently shouted out TCU. However, Notre Dame caught his attention - head coach Marcus Freeman made him the staff's No. 1 priority at the quarterback position, laying out the red carpet during a recent unofficial visit.
Tennessee was consistently linked to Knight. Offensive coordinator Joey Halzle developed a close bond with the Mississippi native. "He and Coach Mitch [Militello] always tell me before we get off the phone, 'You are a special player. We are waiting on you," Knight told Volunteer Country in June. "That means a lot that they are letting me know they are waiting on me."
