Jalin Hyatt Making Noise In Giants Training Camp
The New York Giants used their third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on former Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, and so far, things seem to be going well. The 1,000-yard receiver a year ago has speed to burn and has been showing it impressively in the first few days of training camp.
He has already surpassed the fastest speed in the career of the poster boy of speed in the NFL, Tyreek Hill, hitting 24 miles per hour. It isn’t just the speed, though. He also made a highly impressive, contested, toe-drag snag on the sidelines in training camp. You don’t want to overreact to highlights and numbers from training camp, but speed is speed, and skill is skill, and Jalin Hyatt is just getting started.
Looking forward to the regular season, Hyatt has a shot at making his mark. The Giants did not have a receiver go over 750 yards last season, and their wide receivers combined for just 13 touchdowns. Even with that low production, some of it has left the team, too. They did go out and get Darren Waller, but they still desperately need more production out wide. Looking at the depth chart, plenty of players are vying for playing time, with nobody really having an incredibly strong claim. It is the perfect situation for a rookie who is showing his worth at training camp to be rewarded with opportunities come September.
