Just In: VFL Trey Johnson to Return to Knoxville in Off-Field Role

VR2 on SI has learned that former Tennessee staff member and graduate, Trey Johnson, is set to return to Knoxville following a three-year stop at USC, where he worked as the Director of Scouting/Recruiting Strategy. Johnson’s name was brought to our attention by a source with direct knowledge of the situation on Friday evening, however, no official determination has been made on a title at this time.

Johnson, a graduate of Chattanooga private school, Boyd Buchanan, will return to the Volunteer State as Josh Heupel continues to fill out his support staff. He is already in Knoxville working at this time.

Following a successful high school career at Boyd Buchanan as a linebacker and team captain, Johnson earned a master’s degree from Tennessee while working in various roles in the recruiting office from 2013-2016.

Before going to Southern Cal, Johnson made a one year stop at Liberty as the Director of Player Development  and pro scout liaison
