The Vols broke their losing streak against the Gators last year and hope to continue rewriting program norms under head coach Josh Heupel. First Quarter

  • (0-0), 7:34 - Florida opens the game with the ball and drives the length of the field, but when tasked with a 46-yard field goal, they come up short. Tennessee will take over with possession.
  • (7-0), 5:33 - Quarterback Joe Milton III finds wide receiver Ramel Keyton for an 11-yard touchdown after a big pass play. 
  • (7-6), 4:10 - Florida running back Trevor Etienne finds a hole in the middle of the defense and takes it all the way in for a 62-yard touchdown. Tennessee defensive lineman Omari Thomas blocked the extra point. 
  • (7-6), 1:56 - Tennessee tries to get running back Jaylen Wright into open space on a screen pass, but the 3rd & 9 attempt is unsuccessful, and the Vols punt away. Florida takes over on its own 16-yard line.
  • END OF 1Q: TENNESSEE, 7-6

Second Quarter

  • (7-12), 9:28 - Florida running back Montrell Johnson Jr. finds the end zone from four yards out. The two-point attempt is unsuccessful.
  • (7-12), 8:52 - Milton throws an errant ball while being tackled behind the line of scrimmage. The ball flutters in the air, and Florida defensive back Devin Moore picks it off. Florida returns it and will start inside Tennessee's 10-yard line. 
  • (7-19), 7:20 - Mertz stretches across the goal-line for a touchdown, and Florida jumps out to an early two-score lead.
  • (7-19), 5:52 - The Vols quickly stall out and punt to Florida, who takes over near midfield.
  • (7-26), 2:22 - Mertz evades a sack and finds Johnson in the flat for another red zone touchdown. Mertz now has two touchdowns on the day.
  • END OF 2Q: FLORIDA, 26-7

Third Quarter

  • (10-26), 9:31 - Tennessee marches up the field and nets a field goal on the first drive of the second half.
  • (10-26), 5:22 - Wright can't get anything going on fourth down and short and Tennessee turns the ball over.
  • END OF 3Q: FLORIDA, 26-10

Fourth Quarter

  • (10-29), 9:55 - Florida drives down the field and nets a field goal. 
  • (16-29), 8:41 - Milton finds wide receiver Bru McCoy downfield for a long touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt is unsuccessful.
  • END OF 4Q: FLORIDA, 29-15

Tennessee Injury Report: Florida

  • DeSean Bishop, RB - OUT. According to head coach Josh Heupel, true freshman running back DeSean Bishop won't miss the entire season. Still, he will be sidelined for multiple months after suffering an injury in practice.
  • Cooper Mays, C - IN. Mays underwent a "minor procedure" before the year and could make his season debut against the Gators.
  • Keenan Pili, ILB - OUT. Pili suffered an upper-body injury last week against Virginia and will be out for several weeks, according to Heupel. Expect Elijah Herring and Arion Carter to assume some of those snaps.
  • Elijah Simmons, DT - OUT. Simmons didn't make his season debut last week and won't against Austin Peay, though there is optimism here.
  • Tyree Weathersby, DL - OUT. True freshman defensive end Tyree Weathersby will miss the entire season after suffering an injury in practice.
  • Christian Charles, DB - OUT.
  • Will Brooks, DB - OUT.
