WATCH: Nico Iamaleava Delivers Impressive Football During Spring Practice
Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava made an excellent throw during spring practice on Tuesday.
Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava has different expectations heading into his second season with the program. After learning as the backup during his true freshman season, he assumes the starting role. Everyone in the building is pleased with his continued progress this offseason, especially in his live-rep opportunities.
He delivered an outstanding football to wide receiver Dont'e Thornton on the sideline during practices earlier in the week. Iamaleava found Thornton on the outside, who managed to secure the catch and come down with the football.
"Nico, he’s owned it," wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope explained to the media earlier this week. "He’s taken accountability. He’s kind of taking the bull by the horns. You see him a lot of times after reps, before I can get guys and coach them up, he’s pulling them to the side. They’re talking through what they see and trying to get on the same page, so he’s done an awesome job of doing just that and taking ownership."
