Nico Iamaleava Ranks High On SEC QBs Rankings

Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava checked in on the upper-half side of 247Sports' SEC quarterback rankings.
In this story:

The SEC has many talented quarterbacks heading into the 2024 season. It projects as one of the better groups in the conference in a few years; the additions of Oklahoma and Texas have certainly shaken up the landscape heading into next season.

247Sports's Brad Crawford ranked the SEC starting quarterbacks 1-16 heading into next season. A few starters haven't seen extended runs, and Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava is at the top of that list. His one start was a brilliant dismantling of the Iowa Hawkeyes, but we've only seen one. Crawford addressed the outlook for Iamaleava heading into his first season as a full-time starter.

"You're either a firm believer in Nico Iamaleava as a legitimate Heisman candidate at the position in 2024 or you're in wait-and-see mode against quality SEC defenses. Well, his dissection of Phil Parker's elite unit at Iowa in his first extensive action of his freshman season during the bowl game was enough tape for me. In fact, Josh Heupel could've given Tennessee's 2023 offense to his freshman after a couple inconsistent early showings from Joe Milton, but he preserved the five-star's redshirt and now, this high-powered passing game belongs to him." - 247Sports's Brad Crawford on Nico Iamaleava
