Nico Iamaleava Speaks About Relationship With Joe Milton III

Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava spoke about how Joe Milton III has helped him with his development since arriving in Knoxville, Tennessee.
In this story:

The Vols got news on Wednesday that starting quarterback Joe Milton III opted out of the Citrus Bowl and will be preparing for the NFL Draft. True freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava will get the start in his place, marking the first time Tennessee will get a look at Iamaleava in a starting role.

There were a lot of conversations about Tennessee's quarterback room this offseason. Many wondered about the dynamics between Milton and Iamaleava and thought things might go wrong if the Vols didn't perform the way they wanted to on the field. However, from day one, it has been apparent that the pair have built a strong relationship. Iamaleava spoke about what that has meant to him ahead of the Citrus Bowl on Thursday.

"Huge, man. This whole season Joe took me under his wing and I’ve learned so much from Joe. You guys don’t even know. So, yeah, I’m just still having him here with this bowl prep and having him out here in Orlando with us has been, it’s been fun."

The Iowa Hawkeyes are top-5 in many major statistical categories and should pose a tough test for the young Iamaleava. Milton traveled with the team to Orlando, Florida, and will reportedly be present throughout the week and at the Citrus Bowl. He's been a constant presence for Iamaleava this year, and it won't be any different during bowl preparation
