WBIR Channel 10 previously reported that Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava was questionable for the Austin Peay game. Though the Vols are heavy favorites, this did come as a blow: they need Iamaleava to get as many early reps as possible if they don't want to use 2023 as a redshirt season, which head coach Josh Heupel previously indicated.

He did get fourth-quarter snaps last week, but against a squad like Austin Peay, there's a chance he would get to play an entire half. As it turns out, we'll find out the answer as he will be active for the game. He does carry a wrist injury into action, but it hasn't limited him to this point.

Tennessee Injury Report: Austin Peay

  • Nico Iamaleava, QB - IN. According to WBIR Channel 10, the talented true freshman was battling a wrist injury leading up to kickoff, but he will be available against the Governors.
  • DeSean Bishop, RB - OUT. According to head coach Josh Heupel, true freshman running back DeSean Bishop won't miss the entire season. Still, he will be sidelined for multiple months after suffering an injury in practice.
  • Cooper Mays, C - OUT. Mays underwent a "minor procedure" before the year and could be ready for week three against Florida.
  • Keenan Pili, ILB - OUT. Pili suffered an upper-body injury last week against Virginia and will be out for several weeks, according to Heupel. Expect Elijah Herring and Arion Carter to assume some of those snaps.
  • Elijah Simmons, DT - OUT. Simmons didn't make his season debut last week and won't against Austin Peay, though there is optimism here.
  • Tyree Weathersby, DL - OUT. True freshman defensive end Tyree Weathersby will miss the entire season after suffering an injury in practice.
