Players To Watch In Today's Orange & White Game
The wait for Volunteer Football is finally over! Well, sort of. Today, the team will be split into two groups, competing with each other in this year's installment of the Orange and White Game. This intrasquad scrimmage caps off a productive Spring for the Vols, entering year three under Head Coach Josh Heupel.
As the action nears, we examine some Vols that have something to prove today. Guys that have something to prove. Whether it's a freshman phenom or a grizzly veteran who's waited his turn, there will be guys that stand out. The question is, who? We take a stab at predicting today's heroes.
Nico Iamaleava
The most obvious answer here is everyone in Neyland will be stoked to see their first live-action of freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Everyone knows Nico's talent; that's why he was a 5-Star. But in his first time seeing a crowd of Orange and White close to game speed, how will he fare? Expect to see Nico take some downfield chances today and try to master the tempo of Heupel's offense in front of a raucous crowd.
Dylan Sampson
The Vols Sophomore running back enjoyed a good finish to the 2022 season, earning an SEC Freshman of the Week nod against Vandy. Sampson will try to use that performance as a springboard to more action, as well as his superb Spring. Sampson dominated an earlier spring scrimmage in Neyland a couple of weeks ago and looks to run through some holes created by Cooper Mays and Co.
Gabe Jeudy-Lally
The veteran transfer from BYU will get his first up-close look at what Tennessee Football is all about on a Saturday. As part of a secondary that was cooked throughout the 2022 season, Gabe looks to anchor down one side of the field and help get the ball back in the hands of Josh Heupel and his high-flying offense.
