Pruitt: Bryce Thompson is Playing Through Torn Pectoral Muscle
Tennessee has battled through some injuries to key starters this fall that have left them sidelined for a couple of weeks at a time, but star defensive back, Bryce Thompson, is not letting an injury hold him.
During today's media availability, Pruitt revealed that Thompson has been playing with a torn pectoral muscle. This is not a new injury as Pruitt stated, "Bryce, he missed the Missouri game. He is playing with a torn peck right now. It is something that is kind of healing on its own, so he has missed some practice time.
Pruitt has been critical of his defensive back group for not creating turnovers, while allowing too many explosive plays. However, he does mention the group has been severely hampered by injury and COVID-19 protocol. Pruitt mentioned during the press conference that the Vols were without their entire cornerback group for one part of fall camp.
Thompson was a pre-season All-SEC selection by multiple outlets. Thompson has yet to record an interception this fall, but he has recorded 19 total tackles including two for a loss.
Tennessee will look to create more depth behind Thompson during this week's bye week.
