Tennessee Climbs Into The Top-10 In Latest AP Poll

The Tennessee Volunteers are once again in the top ten of the AP Poll after their week one win over Virginia.

While early season rankings are just that, the AP Poll remains a quintessential part of each college football week. After each Saturday, we get to see these rankings shake-up, and there's already been movement around the sport. Florida State is a big riser, LSU and Clemson are trending down, and several mainstays top the list.

The Tennessee Volunteers closed last season as a consensus top-10 team but started the year at No. 12 in the AP Poll. They are already back in the top ten after week one. While many SEC teams didn't fare well out-of-conference, the Vols routed Virginia in Nashville, Tennessee, and there wasn't a shadow of a doubt throughout the entire game. It may not be the most impressive week one win, but Tennessee did what it needed to do, which is more than many teams can say. They prepare for Austin Peay this week before diving into the meat of their schedule in week three when they travel to Gainesville, Florida, to face the Gators.

We likely won't see any significant movement from Tennessee until we get further into SEC play. Most of the teams ahead of them have winnable games over the next few weeks, with a potential upset looming here and there. Overall, they sit in a good spot just one week out from beginning the SEC portion of their schedule.
