Tennessee Closing In On Season Ticket Record

The Tennessee Volunteers have already almost sold their entire allotment of season tickets and are approaching a program record.

The University of Tennessee has one of the most passionate fanbases in collegiate athletics. Unfortunately, the football program was dormant for over twenty years, leaving the Vol faithful without much to root for. Enter head coach Josh Heupel.

Heupel has revolutionized the program in his first two seasons. He's an innovative offensive mind that led college football's No. 1 offense in 2022; quarterback Hendon Hooker made a bid for a Heisman finalist selection, and wide receiver Jalin Hyatt brought home the Biletnikoff Award. While many key contributors are off to the NFL Draft, Tennessee will warrant much national attention this fall.

According to The Action Network's Brett McMurphy, fans can't wait to buy tickets. To date, they have sold 70,255 season tickets, just 300 shy of their maximum allotment. The athletic department downsized Neyland Stadium, meaning the program record came in 2016 at 73,116. While the Volunteers can't achieve a program record with the downsizing, it feels fair to expect they would surpass that mark with more seating options.

Tennessee's upcoming Orange and White scrimmage will also draw a lot of eyes. Quarterback Joe Milton III is the presumed starter, but many people want to tune in to see how freshman phenom Nico Iamaleava performs. He's had a strong last few weeks of camp and is quickly adjusting to Heupel's offense. After going through such a dry spell, it's refreshing to see the public this interested in Tennessee.
