FINAL: Tennessee Falls On Another Buzzer Beater

Down 17 early in the second half, the Vols fought back ultimately to lose on another buzzer-beater.

Down 49-32 to start the second half, it looked like Tennessee was well on its way to dropping their second game in a row for the first time this season. The Vol's comeback was rapid as they began to hit shots in a flurry.

Tennessee's resurgence was mostly because of a 22-5 run in which the Vols got to the charity stripe line a ton. The free throw discrepancy was notable, to say the least, as the Vols finished the game shooting 17 more free throws than the Tigers. At the half, Missouri did a good job taking away what Tennessee does best. The Tigers, at the break, were only getting beat on the offensive glass by one and had only turned it over three times. Combined with some hot shooting, that resulted in a halftime Tennessee deficit.

Despite that, the Vols never gave up. Tyreke Key had his highest-scoring game of the season with 23 points, and Zeigler and Vescovi chipped in with double digits. The Vols' backcourt was able to pick up a lot of the slack with Josiah-Jordan James sidelined with an ankle injury.

The Vols also got a huge boost in the second half from the freshman Tobe Awaka who once again led the team in rebounding. It's hard to imagine that Awaka won't see a minutes increase down the final stretch of the season. However, all was for not as guard DeAndre Gholston hit a buzzer beater to win in the final seconds.
