FINAL: Florida Bests Tennesse, Hands Volunteers Second SEC Loss
Sometimes you get punched in the mouth. It's the reality of sports; you lose games, especially in the regular season, which is where Tennessee found itself tonight.
Florida went on an early run, getting out to a 17-4 lead with a 15-0 spurt that silenced Tennessee's bench. Other teams would have rolled over and accepted a loss, but Tennessee fought back.
Forward Olivier Nkamhoua was a big reason for the comeback. He kept things close by battling underneath and making some plays on the perimeter, both offensively and defensively.
However, the Gators kept fighting late into the second half. ESPN noted that they are a desperate team looking for a resume win, which is precisely what was happening. These are the trials and tribulations of being the No. 2 team in college basketball; you get everyone's best game.
Florida certainly gave Tennessee its best game. They played sound defense down the stretch, which quickly transitioned into easy offense. Forward Colin Castleton was impressive in the post, making several tough shots over multiple Tennessee Volunteers.
The orange and white have endured setbacks before, namely after the Kentucky game. This is a tough loss but a good learning opportunity moving toward March.
