Scouting Report: Jordan Brown

Of all the players Louisiana will throw at the Tennessee Volunteers, Jordan Brown will be one that provides challenges when he is on the court.

The No. 4 seeded Tennessee Volunteers face off against No. 13 seeded Louisiana to begin the tournament in Orlando. The Ragin' Cajuns have a 26-7 record on the season after coming off a Sun Belt tournament title. It was their first title since 2014, which led to their first tournament appearance since that point. This one marks the 11th tournament appearance in their history.

A big reason for their success has been found in forward Jordan Brown. Brown is a 6-foot-11-inch big man from Roseville, Calif. He was recently named all-conference (first-team Sun Belt).

This season, Brown is averaging 19.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and at least a block a game for Louisiana. He was a top-five scorer in the Sun Belt this season (3rd). He led the Cajuns in scoring this season.

Along with scoring inside, Brown is also a top-notch rebounder. He has gotten double-digit boards in 10 games this season. This includes a season-high 20 back in February against Marshall, a tough team in the Sun Belt this year.

Brown has been playing very well as of recent too. He had two double-doubles in the Sun Belt tournament. He dropped one in the quarterfinal against Georgia Southern (16 points and 13 rebounds) and then another in the championship game against South Alabama (13 points and 16 rebounds). He also had three straight double-doubles in the last three games of the regular season.

Brown has utilized his size a lot more this season, allowing him to score at a higher rate. With an unmatched field goal percentage at 57.0% this year, his opportunities at the rim have been there a lot for him.

Brown's presence creates a good matchup between him and the other giants the Vols have down low. Uros Plavsic, Jonas Aidoo, and Tobe Awaka all create good matchups down low for him.
