The Tennessee Volunteers have had several roster departures following the conclusion of their basketball season.

The Tennessee Volunteers have had many departures from the basketball roster. It was known that the Volunteers would be losing Dalton Knecht, Santiago Vescovi, and Josiah Jordan James; however, many have been a bit of a shock.

The Tennessee season ended on Easter Sunday after making the elite 8 round in March Madness for only the second time in program history. The Purdue Boilermakers defeated them after leading the game early on. Following the game, many players transferred away from Tennessee. Below are the names we know as of now.

Tobe Awaka

Awaka is the most surprising name on this list, as we saw him have a bigger role later in the season. The dominant big man down low is known for his physicality and hustle when grabbing rebounds. Height was the obvious No. 2 big man behind star Jonas Aidoo. As of now, the second-best option behind Aidoo is JP Estrella.

DJ Jefferson

This one isn’t much of a surprise, as this talented young prospect has been held on the bench for the majority of the two seasons he’s been here. He was primarily new as the pre-game ritual key dunker instead of what he could or would do in the actual game. Jefferson has tons of bounce and electric tendencies that we sadly didn’t get a chance to see. This leads me to believe that Cameron Carr is on deck, and that has me and many beyond excited!

Freddie Dilione

Dilione was an early enrollee during the 2022-2023 season, during which he redshirted to prepare for this season. He didn’t live up to the expectations as he was overshadowed by many guys, even off the bench, such as Jordan Gainey. Although Dilione didn’t produce the best season, it’s hard to say that he couldn’t have later on in his career.
