Tennessee Basketball Gets SEC Opponents List for Next Season
The Tennessee Volunteers men's basketball team got their SEC opponents for the 2023-24 season. They will play 18 games, 9 at home in Thompson-Boling Arena and 9 on the road.
The Vols will play five opponents both at home and on the road. Those teams include Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt. Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt are Tennessee's permanent home-and-home series opponents.
The remaining eight games will be SEC teams Tennessee will play only once. At home in Thompson-Boling Arena, the Vols will play Auburn, Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss. The one-time opponents they will play on the road are Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, and Missouri.
The specific dates for these games is set to be released at a later date. The news on Monday also comes about a week after it was announced the Vols will face off against the N.C. State Wolfpack for a neutral site game in San Antonio, T.X. The Volunteers went 11-7 in SEC play last season. Many considered it a down season for them in conference play.
However, head coach Rick Barnes has had lots of success in the SEC as he has now been in Knoxville for 8 seasons. He has a 2018 regular season SEC title and lead the Vols to an SEC tournament win in Tampa in 2022. In the regular season, he has a 86-56 (.606) record in SEC play with the Tennessee program. This upcoming schedule will be a part of the ninth season with Barnes at Tennessee.
