The Tennessee Volunteers are set to play the North Carolina State Wolfpack in San Antonio this December and also travel to Italy before the start of the season.

Unlike football, where we find out opponents over a year ahead of time, like the 2024 SEC football schedule release from last night, for example, or even longer in advance for out-of-conference matchups, college basketball matchups for this upcoming season are continuing to flow in. On Thursday, Jon Rothstein Tweeted that the Tennessee Volunteers would face off against the NC State Wolfpack on Dec. 16 in San Antonio, Texas. There has yet to be an official announcement by either school, but the information was gathered from sources telling College Hoops Today. NC State is coming off of a first-round exit against Creighton in the NCAA Tournament. Tennessee is 4-6 all-time against them but did win the last matchup 67-58 in 2017 in the Bahamas.

Before the Vols face NC State and other out-of-conference opponents, they will take a drip across the pond to Italy for three exhibition games, the school announced on Thursday. The team is traveling at the end of the summer, from July 31 to Aug. 9. In addition to the games, the trip will involve “cultural immersion and exciting sight-seeing experiences.” The Vols will face the Lithuanian U21 National Team in Florence on Aug. 4 and Aug. 5 and square up against A.S. Stella Azzura in Rome on Aug. 7. The games are sure to be a great experience for the team over the summer, as will the trip to Italy as a whole. The Tennessee basketball team last went to Italy in 2012, where they went 4-0.
