Uros Plavsic Lands on Summer League Roster
On Monday, the Atlanta Hawks announced their summer league roster. Featured in the announcement was former Volunteer center Uros Plavsic. He will play with the likes of second-year NBA big man A.J. Griffin, former Vol teammate Yves Pons, and the Hawks' first-round pick out of Michigan, Kobe Bufkin. Plavsic is one of many Volunteers in this year's summer league. The other ones include Julian Phillips (Bulls), Keon Johnson (Trail Blazers), Jaden Springer (76ers), Jordan Bowden (Clippers), and many more.
The summer league for the NBA starts on July 7th in Las Vegas. The Hawks tip it off on the 7th against the Sacramento Kings at 10:30 p.m. E.T. Plavsic announced that he would not be returning to Knoxville next season back in May. Thus, he would try his luck at the professional level. Before having an opportunity with Atlanta, Plavsic was a long-time Tennessee Volunteer player. He initially transferred to Knoxville from Arizona State back in 2019.
The big man out of Serbia played four seasons with Tennessee basketball. In his time with the Vols, he averaged 3.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and had a career field goal percentage of 57.3%.In the 101 total games he played with the Vols, he made 45 starts. He had a sparky 2022-23 season in which he had games where he stood out a lot. His career best in points came back in January against the Kentucky Wildcats, where he had 19. In fact, 2022-23 was a better season for Plavsic than his previous three. Including the Kentucky game, he had seven games in which he was in double figures for points and seven other games in which he was in double figures for rebounds. It was by far his best season on Rocky Top, and it will be interesting to see if that can translate to the summer league.
