FINAL: Vanderbilt Beats Tennessee In Thriller
Vanderbilt and Tennessee were locked in a battle all night. While the Volunteers came in as a heavy favorite, the Commodores and head coach Jerry Stackhouse gave the orange and white all they had.
The Commodores were competitive in their first matchup with Tennessee but took things to the next level on Wednesday. They came out with high energy, powered by the dynamic scoring of their backcourt. Jordan Wright and Tyrin Lawrence were efficient all night, and Liam Robbins fought hard down low.
Meanwhile, Tennessee turned to its bench for a spark. Guard Tyreke Key scored 14 points, and forward Tobe Awaka logged ten points and seven rebounds. Forward Julian Phillips had another confident performance, scoring ten while missing one shot from the floor.
Ultimately, this proved to be a great basketball team where the better squad this evening won. The Commodores repeatedly made big shots and got stops when they needed to in the final four minutes. Tennessee did all it could, fighting until the final whistle. While they gave a valiant effort, Tennessee leaves Nashville with the loss, their fifth on the season and third in the conference.
