While there is still work to be done to hold onto commits and maybe get a few flips, Tennessee is pretty close to being done in its 2027 recruiting class. Now, it is time for the Volunteers to start recruiting the 2028 class hard. They have already hit the ground running with a few players. One of those players is three-star defensive back Dale Perry.

He recently spoke about Tennessee with Vols on SI, and here is what he had to say.

New corners coach Derek Jones has been the primary recruiter going after the Langston Hughes (Georgia) product, and Perry is noticing how coach Jones can help him both on and off the field.

“He’s a great person. I got to talk to him, and we talked about life and stuff. He also talked about how good he’s going to be at developing his players, and how it is not just based on football; he develops his players as men. That's something I’m really looking into.”

Being a three-star corner from Fulton County, Georgia, Perry shares a similar profile (as a recruit) to Tennessee sophomore Ty Redmond. After seeing how Redmond shined as a freshman, Perry is trying to replicate that success when he goes to college.  

“It motivates me to see someone like myself going out there and balling.”

Perry grew up hearing about the electric atmosphere that Neyland has, and the thought of playing there excites him.

“That would be a blessing to play in front of so many people.”

Perry is looking to visit various schools this fall, and besides Tennessee, he specifically mentioned Ole Miss, Missouri, Nebraska, and Vanderbilt, although he is still looking to visit other schools that he did mention as well.

Last season, he totaled seven pass breakups while only allowing three catches all season as he helped his Langston Hughes squad to a 12-1 record, falling in the Georgia 5A quarterfinals. He also played 7-on-7 football with Tennessee quarterback commit Derrick Baker this summer.
