All Signs Continue Pointing Back To George MacIntyre

The Tennessee Volunteers are quite active in their search for a 2025 quarterback, and five-star Nashville native George MacIntyre may be their man.

Tennessee's coaching staff has been adamant about landing a premier 2025 quarterback since 2023 five-star Nico Iamaleava committed in March 2022. They've cycled through names like Cutter Boley, Antwann Hill, and KJ Lacey but ultimately are down to two guys: George MacIntyre and Deuce Knight, a frequent discussion in Tennessee recruiting circles.

The staff has played things well with both and would accept a commitment from either. However, they likely don't get both, so they must figure out a clear strategy in the building. Head coach Josh Heupel and offensive coordinator Joey Halzle have really connected with MacIntyre, especially since the contact period opened on August 1st.

Heupel stopped by Brentwood Academy the night before Tennessee's season opener to watch MacIntyre square off against Christian Brothers High School. That night was the first open period of fall evaluation, and Heupel chose to spend the night watching the top in-state passer. MacIntyre returned the favor, traveling to Nissan Stadium the following day to watch the Vols route Virginia.

Another factor that plays into this is Knight. He transferred to Lipscomb Academy from Lucedale, Mississippi, to close out his final two years of high school. However, Knight announced that he would be leaving the program on Tuesday, which could greatly impact his recruitment if he went outside the state of Mississippi. The bottom line is that things make too much sense for MacIntyre and Tennessee, and if I were a betting man, this would be the 2025 quarterback I would bet would end up being a Tennessee Volunteer.
