Amari Jefferson Narrows Recruitment, Includes The Vols
Amari Jefferson is a wide receiver out of the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the class of 2024. The three-star stands at 6 feet, 1 inch tall, and weighs 195 pounds. On March 22, he announced a visit to Tennessee via Twitter, which he took that weekend. Just days later, on March 26, he cut his list down to 12, having received 24 offers.
This Monday, however, he slimmed that list even further, with just six schools making the cut. He included Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Miami (FL). There is obviously a big SEC presence with four schools plus Oklahoma, which will be in the conference by the time Jefferson plays in the fall of 2024. There were not any other schools in the SEC in his list of 12 other than the ones that made the cut at six on Monday. Jefferson has a visit to Athens planned for this month and may have one for Knoxville coming this summer, too.
Jefferson is a multi-sport athlete, playing baseball at the Baylor School and lighting it up on the gridiron. As a football player, Jefferson scored 17 touchdowns on 72 receptions for 1370 receiving yards, according to 247Sports. That is a great production for the big pass catcher. Don’t let his size fool you, though. Jefferson has breakaway speed that he is not afraid to use both before and after the catch. Hopefully, this combination of size and speed stays in state, with Tennessee highly on the Chattanooga native’s radar.
