Four-Star OT Bennett Warren Set To Commit At The End Of The Month
Offensive tackle Bennett Warren released his top four schools in early June. The four-star out of Sugar Land, Texas, included Tennessee, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Michigan. Roughly a month-and-a-half later, the 6-foot-7.5-inch lineman told Hayes Fawcett that he would be making his decision on Monday, July 31.
Nobody seems super confident about where he will decide to go—some experts think he's favoring the Vols, while others think the academics at Michigan are too big of a hurdle to overcome. Whoever lands him will have quite the prospect on their hands. The 330-pounder plays like a freak of nature. He is not stiff and has the makings of being a star, hence his top-100 ranking.
As Evan Crowell documented, Warren would be a huge get for Tennessee (both literally and figuratively). His body is already SEC-ready, and he has the skill and technique to go with it. The trenches are where games are won and lost, and as great as the skill position recruits are to land, getting guys like Warren (although there aren't a ton like him) to sign is what helps you build a winning culture. We have seen the Alabamas and Georgias of the world produce NFL talent year after year on the offensive line, with former Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas just inking a record-setting deal with the Giants on Thursday. We'll see if Tennessee can begin a pipeline like that - offensive tackle Darnell Wright went in the top-ten of the 2022 NFL Draft, so they certainly have the formula.
